Duties and Responsibilities:

In this role, I will assist ours Bars Manager and assume responsibility for the efficient operation of the Beverage & Bar department to provide exceptional product and service within brand operating standards.

As Bars Assistant Manager, include the following responsibilities:


  • Assist the Bars Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of all bars and beverage outlets within the hotel.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to bar team members, ensuring they deliver high-quality service and adhere to hotel standards.

  • Monitor and manage inventory levels of beverages and bar supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained at all times.

  • Conduct regular stocktakes and assist in placing orders to replenish inventory as needed, while minimizing wastage and controlling costs.

  • Assist in the training and development of bar team members, providing guidance on service standards, product knowledge, and upholding hotel policies and procedures.

  • Conduct regular training sessions and workshops to enhance team members' skills and knowledge.

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement promotional activities and special events to drive traffic to the bars and outlets.

  • Monitor competitor offerings and industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.

  • Assist in the development of beverage menus, including cocktails, and other offerings, keeping abreast of industry trends and guest preferences.

  • Work with the culinary team to create innovative and appealing food and beverage pairings.

  • Foster a positive and cohesive team environment among bar team members, promoting open communication and teamwork.

  • Coordinate with other departments such as restaurant, culinary, housekeeping, and events to ensure smooth operation and seamless guest experiences.

  • Enforce health and safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all staff and guests.

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in all bar areas, conducting regular inspections and implementing corrective actions as necessary.

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.

  • Collaborate with the events team to plan and execute special events, private parties, and functions hosted in the bar areas.

  • Ensure that event setups, staffing, and service standards meet or exceed guest expectations.

Qualifications

To execute the position of Assistant Bars Manager, I must have the required qualifications, technical skills and experience in a similar role in luxury hotels with proven results and includes the following:


  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management, culinary arts, or related field plus 3 or more years related experience, including management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Technical skills include Advanced MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. I am also familiar with various hotel systems including MICROS/point of sell platforms. I have knowledge of hotel/resort and policies on discounts/food promotion.

  • In-depth knowledge of various spirits, liqueurs, wines, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages, including their flavor profiles, origins, and production methods

  • Proficiency in classic and contemporary cocktail-making techniques, such as muddling, shaking, stirring, layering, and garnishing, to create well-balanced and visually appealing drinks.

  • Fluent in English; and Fluent in Spanish is preferred.

  • Valid European work permit is mandatory.
